About Dr. Roussel

Dr. Lauren Roussel is a Brown University-trained female plastic surgeon who is well known for her warm and welcoming approach to surgery, helping her patients reach their aesthetic goals with the utmost satisfaction.  She focuses on developing relationships and guiding her patients through the surgical process, providing compassionate care and individualized treatment plans. Surgery can be a significant and life-changing decision, and Dr. Roussel enjoys cheering on her patients as they find satisfaction and greater confidence through cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Roussel’s goal is to produce natural results that help patients look like the best version of themselves. With a conservative approach and deep knowledge of aesthetics, Dr. Roussel can help you capture your most authentic and confident self.

In her spare time, Dr. Roussel enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and cooking.

Education & Awards

Dr. Roussel graduated from Providence College, earning a bachelor’s degree in Public and Community Service with a focus in International Health and completing the Liberal Arts Honors Program.  She went on to complete the Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program of Bryn Mawr College.  Dr. Roussel obtained her medical degree at University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry in Rochester, New York.  During medical school, she completed a one-year NIH-sponsored clinical research program focused on plastic surgery.  She received numerous accolades during her medical training including induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society, a national honor bestowed on those in the top of the graduating medical school class and receiving the American Medical Women’s Association Glasglow-Rubin Certificate of Commendation.  She then completed a rigorous six-year residency program in plastic surgery at Brown University.  During her final year of training, Dr. Roussel was chosen to serve as Chief Resident and received the Haffenreffer Family House Staff Excellence Award for exceptional qualities in clinical services, professionalism, leadership and stewardship, and scholarly activity and research.

Dr. Roussel is a highly accomplished cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon. She has published over two dozen peer-reviewed journal publications, as well as several book chapters and given presentations at local, national, and international meetings.  As a woman in a male-dominated specialty, Dr Roussel strives to be a role model for the upcoming generation of women in plastic surgery. Along with mentoring students, she has helped oversee a course for medical students interested in surgical subspecialities at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Currently, she works at Lifespan Physician Group Plastic Surgery and at the Providence VA Medical Center.

Do you still have feeling in your nipples after breast lift?

Yes. The sensation in the nipple is rarely lost following a breast lift.

How long do breast lift results last?

A breast lift will typically not have to be repeated, although results may change with significant weight changes or pregnancy.

How soon after breast lift can I exercise?

Each patients recovery is different, but is usually recommended to wait at least 2 weeks before exercising after the surgery.
